The lifespan of your suspension system can be hard to predict.
After many years and tens of thousands of miles, your suspension components can become worn out. If you’re driving on smooth highways, your shocks will last a lot longer than if you do most of your driving on bumpy roads or hauling heavy loads. Driving frequently on bumpy roads or hitting a pothole, curb or rock can damage your suspension system. Being in an accident, even a minor fender bender can also lead to suspension damage. There are so many components that can affect the safety of your suspension system. It is recommended to get periodic inspections. During a suspension inspection your technician will thoroughly inspect for worn, broken or missing parts.
What signs should I look out for?
If your tires have a cupped wear pattern or your shocks are bouncing unevenly. You may also notice a floating or drifting sensation when going around corners. If the front of your vehicle dives excessively when stopping, or rocks back and forth after you’ve stopped your shocks may be worn out. If your shocks are leaking fluid its definitely time to replace them.
