Are you noticing vapor coming out of your vents?
Do you sometimes notice steam or vapor coming out of your vehicles vents when you turn on the AC or heater? Is that something that you need to worry about?
The answer is maybe. Sometimes it can just be steam from some water accumulating in the vent system from condensation. The water can end up at the bottom of the vent and when you turn on the blower motor, it can cause some steam to come out of your vents.
It usually goes away on its own when the system dries out after you’ve had the fan on for a little while. Moisture sitting around for a longer time in a hot vehicle can become to perfect breeding ground for mold to develop.
Sometimes the moisture can keep building up because a drain is clogged. One of our technicians can clean that out and get things draining again.
If the vapor coming out of the vents has a sweet, syrupy smell, it could be caused by a hole in your heater core. The heater core is the part that helps heat the cabin in colder weather. You may even notice your windows steaming up if the hole is large enough.
In either case, if you have steam, vapor or smoke coming out of your vents bring it in to get it checked out. Catching the issue early on can keep the little problem from becoming a bigger issue.
