April 1st marks a significant milestone for Old Town Auto Service—our 50th anniversary! Since 1975, we have been a trusted name in auto repair, proudly serving Eureka and the greater Humboldt County area. Founded by Wally Cunningham and his wife Sharon, and now owned and operated by their son Steve Cunningham and his wife Lacee, Old Town Auto Service (originally Old Town Brake & Front End) has grown into a reputable, family-owned auto repair shop known for honesty, integrity, and top-tier service you can trust!

The Journey from Humble Beginnings

Old Town Auto Service has been a trusted name in auto repair since 1975. Wally Cunningham, auto mechanic turned entrepreneur, founded the company with his wife Sharon. Together they built the business (previously known as Old Town Brake & Front End) into the notable auto repair shop it is today.

Old Town Auto Service began as a dream in the mind of founder Wally Cunningham. Wally cut his teeth working for his future father-in-law at A&B Wheel and then launched Old Town back in 1975.

As the word spread that Wally had opened shop, the business grew and Wally recruited his son Steve to jump on board and help in the family business. Steve was a fast learner and quickly became a highly experienced auto technician while also becoming the shop manager. In 1988, Steve decided it was time to spread his wings, and he purchased a shop of his own. He and his wife Lacee built their business from a small 2-bay shop to a state-of-the-art 12-bay facility with a top-notch crew of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certified technicians, knowledgeable service advisors, and a customer service team that will greet you with a smile.

While growing their business, Steve and Lacee also grew their family, raising their two daughters, Mallory and Marissa. From the time they were young children, Mallory and Marissa made regular appearances at the shop, becoming a part of the family business in their own way. Whether it was helping out with small tasks, greeting customers, or simply learning the ins and outs of running an auto repair shop, the girls were always present. As they grew older, they began working alongside their parents, developing the same passion for the automotive industry and dedication to customer service that had been instilled in them from a young age.

In 2015, Steve and Lacee purchased Old Town Auto Service from Steve's parents, Wally and Sharon, officially continuing the legacy of excellence that had been established 40 years earlier. For several years, they successfully operated both Eureka Brake & Automotive and Old Town Auto Service, managing two thriving businesses while maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism. Their dedication to their employees, customers, and community remained unwavering, ensuring that both shops continued to provide top-tier automotive repair and maintenance.

As time went on, their oldest daughter, Mallory, and her husband, Shane, expressed a desire to carry on the family tradition in their own way. With a passion for the industry and a strong foundation built from years of experience at the shop, Mallory and Shane made the decision to purchase Eureka Brake & Automotive, stepping into leadership roles of their own. Now, Steve and Lacee continue to own and operate Old Town Auto Service while cheering on and supporting Mallory and Shane as they embark on their own journey as business owners.
