Meet the Owners, Steve & Lacee Cunningham

Steve Cunningham began his automotive career as a teenager working in his parent’s auto repair shop, then known as Old Town Brake & Front End. He started at the bottom cleaning shop floors and tools, and worked his way up to become a highly trained and certified technician. Starting from the age of 21, he managed his parents’ shop until opening his own auto repair shop, Eureka Brake & Automotive, in 1988 at the age of 24. Steve is no stranger to hard work and perseverance.

Steve and Lacee were married in 1990, and not long after, the shop was busy enough that Lacee was needed fulltime in the business. Over the years, the couple has created an incredible partnership in the automotive industry while raising a family of their own. Taking their parents’ lead, they too have balanced managing a successful business and busy family. Today, the Cunninghams continue to hone their skills in all aspects of business, management, and maintaining a great team at home and work.

The couple’s interest in helping others to find their career paths has led them to become involved with a number of organizations. Steve has served as department advisor for the Eureka High School automotive department and as a board member for the College of the Redwoods Automotive Department.

Meet the Founders, Wally & Sharon Cunningham

Old Town Auto Service founder Wally Cunningham began his career in the auto repair business working for his future father-in-law at A&B Wheel. He learned from the ground up how to not only service cars, but also take great care of customers. Wally and his wife, Sharon, founded their own auto repair shop in 1975, naming it Old Town Brake & Front End. While balancing the tasks of running a business, they raised their children (including Steve), and always made time for family.

Wally & Sharon currently enjoy traveling and cooking for family and friends. They are quite the gourmet chefs!

If you ever have the opportunity to have them cook for you, don’t be surprised to find a creative duck or goose dish on the table, along with a good bottle of wine, of course! Wally is an avid fisherman, as well as a duck and goose hunter. He is also a member of Duck’s Unlimited and supports the preservation of wetlands and waterfowl.

Sharon can be found quite often at the gym taking her favorite Zumba class or having lunch with girlfriends. The couple has a passion for family and friends and plans to remain very active, enjoying each day of retirement.
